Nelnet Commits Support to Sidney Schools

Nelnet is showing its support of the Sidney Community with a donation to the Sidney Public Schools.

On Monday, Nov. 9, Nelnet Development Manager Cory Keen and his team of local employees met with the Cheyenne County School District No.1 Board of Education to present a donation to the schools. The donation included 10 3D printers along with necessary supplies. Three of the printers will go to West Elementary School, three to Sidney Middle School and four to Sidney High School. In addition to the printers and supplies, Nelnet donated $5,000 toward the District's STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) program.

Nelnet has had 14 Sidney employees working from home since its job fair early this year.

Monday Keen also announced the company will be setting up an office in Sidney. The new office will be the third floor of the Security First Bank building. Nelnet plans to take possession of the building following extensive renovation of the area.

“It's going to be completely remodeled,” he said.

While Nelnet is known by many for student loan serving, student loans are only one facet of what the company offers. Nelnet is also a professional services company, consumer loan originator and servicer, payment processor, telecommunications innovator and K-12 and higher education expert, according to the company's website.

The website says the company values are • providing superior customer experiences,• creating an awesome work environment, • pursuing opportunities for diversification and growth, • communicating openly and honestly and • giving back to the communities in which employees work and live.

The company has been serving communities for more than 40 years.
