Pull Out Of Alliance Tourney
Sidney’s Lady Raider Volleyball team hosted the Gering Lady Bulldogs Tuesday Oct. 20, and had no problem downing their rivals in three straight sets, 25-to-18, 25-to-10 and 25-to-19. However, what the Sidney team treated as a good warmup for the weekend tournament in Alliance provided to be their only action of the week, as the Sidney team pulled out of the tournament due to a spike of COVID-19 cases in the Alliance area.
In the match against Gering, junior Alecca Campbell dominated at the net, scoring 10 kills on the night. The Lady Raiders were able to get most of their bench players involved for valuable experience. The Lady Raiders stayed in system and communicated well all night, and never let the Gering squad build any momentum. The victory puts the Lady Raiders record at 23-and-5, and they were scheduled for the first round of the C1 Subdistrict Tournament Monday at Sidney High School. The tournament was postponed and scheduled to start on Tuesday due to the winter storm that came through the panhandle on Sunday.
