Raiders Cross Country Hosts Sidney Invite

On Thursday the Sidney Red Raider Cross Country team hosted the best of the area’s teams for the Sidney Invite at Deer Park Run.

North Platte was the big winner on the varsity side, with the Boy’s team earning first place with 18 points while the Girl’s team won with a score of 23. The Sidney boys placed second with a score of 26 while the girls came in third with a score of 40.

Junior Daniel Bashtovoi led the boys varsity runners with a second place finish at 17:07 followed by junior Mitch Deer in third place at 17:31.

For the girls varsity, freshman Talissa Tanquary led the Sidney runners with a third place finsih at 20:22 followed by junior Lydia Peters with a fourth place finish at 20:39.

For the boys junior varsity, the Sidney team placed second overall with 40 points, while the girls squad finished third with 48 points.

Senior Damien Beatson led the boys junior varsity with an eight place finish at 19:49, followed by junior Luis Hernandez in ninth place at 19:56 and freshman Gabriel Neufeld in 10th at 20:03.

Senior Kimberly Gutierrez led the junior varsity girls with a fourth place finish at 26:18.

The Red Raiders next compete in the District Meet on Thursday at Crandall Creek Country Club in Ogallala.
