Potter-Dix’s Lady Coyote Volleyball team has started the year well, with strong net play and aggressive offense. The Lady Coyotes traveled to Sioux County for a Friday evening match-up against the undefeated Lady Warriors, and found themselves in a 2-to-0 hole after being dominated 25-to-9 in the first set, then battling hard but dropping the second set 25-to-22.
In the third set, Potter-Dix took an early lead and were able to hold on, thwarting the Lady Warriors comeback attempts to take the third set 25-to-19. The fourth set was even tighter, with Sioux County poised to take the set, with the Lady Coyotes surviving three ace serves and multiple ties at the end of the set to hang in and win 25-to-23 and force a fifth set.
Five lead changes and nine ties attested to the close battle between the teams, but Potter-Dix went on a five point run to take a 12-to-10 lead, then continued to battle and pulled out the set victory 17-to-15 for a 3-to-2 match win. Sophomore Kylie Fiehtner and senior Jaydin Paxton each had 15 kills in the victory, and sophomore Kallie Crossman had a whopping 40 assists leading to 44 total kills for the Lady Coyotes.
