Sidney’s Lady Raider Volleyball team went into a triangular at North Platte on Thursday to face off against the Lady Bulldogs and the Ogallala Lady Indians, and the Sidney squad was looking to rebound from their three set opening match loss against Scottsbluff on Aug. 27.
Sidney started slow against North Platte, dropping the first set 25-to-13, but were able to regroup and get in synch in the second set, putting away the stubborn Lady Bulldogs 25-to-22. Sidney then continued the momentum, and battled hard in the third set to earn a 25-to-21 win and a 2-to-1 match victory, their first of the year.
The Lady Raiders then faced off against the Lady Indians, and battled through a tough first set. Needing extra points to earn the win, Sidney battled and came out on top 26-to-24. The Lady Raiders had another battle with Ogallala in the second set, but were able to pull out the 25-to-21 set victory for a 2-to-0 match win. Sidney improved their record to 2-and-1 on the season, and were scheduled to travel to Mitchell to battle the Lady Tigers on Tuesday.
