Joshua was born May 9, 1985 to Dean and Nancy (Creger) Gipfert in Sidney, NE. Josh attended school in Sidney and graduated in 2003. Following graduation from high school, Josh attended Southeast Community College in Milford, NE majoring in John Deere Ag Tech. Following graduation Josh returned to Sidney to work at 21st Century Equipment.  In May of 2013, Josh decided to pursue his dream of farming.  During that time, he farmed alongside Keith Rexroth. Throughout the years, Josh farmed for several other area farmers which he continued to do until his death.  Joshua also had a love for the cattle business and with the help of Mike Rowan, he embraced the ranching life.  During his off season this year, he also worked at Sidney Feed and Supply in Sidney, doing anything that was asked of him.

Josh also had a love for firefighting.  He became a member of the Gurley Volunteer Fire Department, working his way up the ranks until he received the rank of Chief which he held until his death.  Josh was also a member of the Cheyenne County Farm Bureau Board and Membership Chair.  He was an avid Denver Broncos fan, and by doing so, was the brunt of many jokes which he took in stride. Josh was also a lifetime member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Sidney.

One of Josh's best attributes was his work ethic and willingness to help others.  Because of this, Josh was admired by many, most of which, were his South Divide buddies and several friends, family and seasoned ag producers.

In Josh's free time, he always found the time to make his daughter Brooklyn his priority. They enjoyed camping in the summer, attending church and Sunday school, raising Brooklyn's chickens, cats, cattle and their beloved dog, Jax.

Josh was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, Kenneth Sr. & Mae Gipfert, and James & Marie Creger.

Survivors include his beloved daughter, Brooklyn Marie, his parents, Dean and Nancy Gipfert, his sisters, Tiffany (David) Vallier and their children, Addyson, Khira and Logan, and Megan Gipfert and fiance' Lane Rathman, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and his many, many friends and family. Joshua also left behind his main farm hand, Jax, his dog.
