Sidney Schools February Students of the Month

The Monthly Performance Award acknowledges other criteria as well as achievement. These criteria are: 1. Superior academic performance, (or), dramatic improvement of classroom work, G.P.A. or attitude toward learning. 2. Exceptional work effort toward a particular class project. 3. Outstanding Contribution to the class. 4. Leadership exhibited in the class/school. 5. Citizenship emphasized and modeled. 6. Service to school.

Recognized for the February Performance Awards are:

7th Grade – Robert Stevens has been selected as the 7th grade student of the month. Robert is an excellent student who gives his best in the classroom every day.  He sets a strong example for his classmates by persevering through new content. Robert does a great job demonstrating a deep understanding of concepts in all subject areas.  He is responsible and he takes initiative to get work done while participating in school activities. Robert is the son of Greg and Anne Stevens.

8th Grade - Madison Packer has been chosen as the 8th grade Student of the Month. Madison has consistently displayed the qualities that we find desirable of a student representing Sidney Middle School. Madison sets a positive example each day in her academics and leadership.  Facing every challenge with a smile, she always gives 110%. When she encounters another student struggling, she helps them with patience and understanding. In our experience with Madison, she has been respectful to teachers and other students.  Her positive attitude, excellent work ethics, leadership, and patience with others make her an excellent choice for student of the month. Madison is the daughter of Eric and Mollie Packer.

9th Grade – Joslyn Bertrand. Nominated based on her Academic Performance, Classroom Effort/Attitude, and Leadership/Service/Citizenship. Joslyn is such a leader in the classroom. If any other students are struggling, they go to her first because they know she'll always help. She can be counted on to complete any task and to lead other students in a positive way. She is a member of the International Travel Club in high school. She likes to hang out with friends and family. When she gets out of high school she wants to go to the University of Nebraska at Kearney and study in the Elementary Education program. Joslyn is the daughter of Nicole & Eric Bertrand.

10th Grade – Grace Michelman pays attention in class and always works to memorize vocab and structures. She uses her time in class wisely and turns in her work on time and complete always! We are reading Spanish novels independently in class and she uses that time well and has already completed one novel and is working on a book review that isn't due until May as well as reading another novel. She is a great writer in Spanish as well, and is able to use lots of vocabulary that she has learned in her past year and a half in Spanish class. Grace is the daughter of Kelly & Misty Michelman.

11th Grade – Aiden Jenkins is an outstanding student, receives high grades and assists students in the classroom. Aiden is polite to everyone and has never been a disruption in any classroom or in the halls. Aiden is part of SRTV and he runs cameras for every home event that they broadcast for. He does a wonderful job with this and also assists in the broadcast booth which is out of his comfort zone. Aiden is part of the track team and has attended all of the pre-season workouts to be ready for the track season. Aiden is a nice, kind, helpful young man. He is also a member of Science Club and S Club. He is a music person, and likes to listen to other music artists, and enjoys YouTube. He enjoys running & sometimes will go out and run for track on his own time. He plans on getting through the remaining of his school years, and getting a job soon. Aiden is the son of Sarah & Matt Jenkins.

12th Grade – Hayden Hofrock

Hayden was nominated because of his Academic Performance, Classroom Effort/Attitude, Dramatic Improvement, Leadership/Service/Citizenship. Hayden has improved over the time he has been in high school and he is doing some important work for his future while still in high school. Hayden is the son of Curtis & Kim Hofrock.
