Derald H. Pittam, age 83, of Ogallala, NE and formerly of Sidney, passed away in Ogallala, Thursday, February 27, 2020.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, March 5th in the Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Wednesday from 1-7:00 P.M. to sign Derald's register book and drop off condolences for the family. The casket will be closed. Memorial contributions may be made in care of the family for future designation.

Derald Hurst Pittam, the son of Hurst and Berniece (Kemerling) Pittam, was born on June 10, 1936 in Central City, CO. He was involved as a Boy Scout and later as a Scout Troop Leader. Derald graduated from Sidney High School and completed two years of college in Fort Collins, CO. He returned to Sidney to work at Pittam Body Shop with his father where he continued running the family business for many years. In 1959 Derald was drafted into the United States Army and served for two years in South Korea. On October 4, 1959 he was united in marriage to Judy Van Cleave in Sidney. They had two sons, Scott and Shad who also worked with him in the family business. Upon his retirement from the Body Shop they moved to Lake McConaughy. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, traveling and spending time on the lake.
Survivors include his wife: Judy; children: Scott Pittam and wife Shannon and Shad Pittam and wife Dinneen; grandchildren: Krista Caton and husband Justin and their daughter Isabella, Jamie Perry and husband David and Kelsey Pittam and boyfriend Mike Wilson; sister: Gloria Fiegenschuh and husband Dick and numerous family members including cousins, nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Derald was known for and will always be remembered for his smile, so everyone take a minute to smile today.
