The Cheyenne County Commissioners opened one bid for work on County Road 115.
Wieser Construction of Sidney submitted the winning bid.
The bid extension of a paved surface south from Love's Truck Stop to County Road 21.
The board also met with a representative of the PRCA Committee to discuss improvements of the rodeo grounds. Commissioner Randal Miller was appointed to meet with Wheat Belt Public Power District. The County recently received a notice of underpayment to Wheat Belt. The undercharge is in the amount of $14,878.41.
The commissioners also met regarding sealed bids for sale of a collection of model trains at the Cheyenne County Visitors Center. No bids were received.
The board also met with Highway Superintendent Doug Hart to review and consider awarding of a bid for a backhoe. All bids were rejected.
The commissioners also met as the Board of Equalization with County Treasurer Shelley Bowlin. A public hearing was held to review and consider approval of Exemption Application for Tax Exemption on Motor Vehicles Owned by Qualified Nonprofit Organizations for Cheyenne County Hospital Association. The commissioners, acting as the Board of Equalization, also met with Assessor Melody Keller. The board reviewed tax exemptions on real and personal property for High Plains Paw Welfare Inc. The exemption request was first discussed in an earlier meeting and tabled until the Feb. 18 meeting. The board also reviewed and approved tax list corrections for Laura Martinez and David Findley due to clerical errors, and reviewed and approved a 2017 Homestead Exemption correction for Kathryn Krueger.
Reconvening at the board of commissioner, the board discussed a proposal to declare specific communication property from the Communications Center as surplus property.
The commissioners also received a report from Buildings and Grounds Superintendent Tom Payne, and from Highway Superintendent Doug Hart on road activities.
