Dr. Jeff Cook Retires, Dr. Shelby Rookstool New Addition to Staff

After more than 35 years in business, Sidney Vision Clinic has been sold to My Family Vision Clinic.

A letter dated Feb. 1 announced that Dr. Jeff Cook's practice "will now be in the hands of Shelby Rookstool."

Thursday afternoon, Dr. Rookstool confirmed Dr. Thomas Moser of My Family Vision Clinic has purchased the Sidney Vision Clinic and clinics in McCook and Benkleman. Dr. Moser's My Family Vision Clinic has been providing eye and vision care for residents of southwest Nebraska, according to the My Family Vision Clinic website. Dr. Moser took over the Benkleman and McCook locations in 2015. According to the website, his philosophy is to be able to treat everyone who walks through the door as family and provide the best care possible.

The Sidney Vision Clinic has been serving the Cheyenne County community since 1983. The website says its agency's doctors "use only the most advanced, state-of-the-art diagnostic technology and eye care products available."

"We are committed to educating our patients and providing personalized eye care services to the people of Sidney," the website says.

Dr. Cook says in his letter announcing the sale of the offie that the quality of service will continue under Dr. Rookstool.

"I am proud to have Dr Shelby Rookstool in our practice because we share the same commitment to personal service, providing patients with the finest provisional vision care while offering a greater selection of products.

Dr. Rookstool graduated with honors from Chadron State College with a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology degree in 2014, and from Midwestern University, Arizona College of Optometry in May 2019. Prior to coming to Sidney, she worked at the My Family Vision Clinic in McCook.

With the change of ownership, there will be a change of hours. Office hours beginning in March will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday with the office closed on Fridays.

The clinic will continue offering vision care including an expanded selection of designer eyewear, value frames and sunglasses; state-of-the-art eye exams, including retinal imaging and 3D evaluations of the Optic Nerve and Macula; treatment of ocular diseases, including glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy; complete contact lens service including exams, evaluations, fittings and lenses; wide variety of contact lenses including bifocal, astigmatic and specialty; post- and pre-op cataract and Lasik treatment. As My Family Vision Clinic, the clinic will also treat pediatric patients. They will also be accepting VSP and EyeMed insurance.
