February is just arriving and deadlines are approaching for the Primary Election.
The filing deadline for incumbent candidates wishing to be on the Primary Election ballot must submit their filing forms by Feb. 18. Even if an office-holder is seeking a different position, one other than what they current hold, they are required to file their intent by 5 p.m. Feb. 18.
The deadline for non-incumbents is 5 p.m. March 2.
The 2020 Primary Election is scheduled for Tuesday, May 12.
The following offices will be considered in the Primary Election: county commissioner District 1 incumbent Randal Miller; Sidney City Council: incumbent Joe Arterburn and incumbent Burke Radcliffe; Sidney Airport Authority: incumbent Jim Price, incumbent Shannon Odiet and incumbent Dennis DeNovellis; Sidney School Board: incumbent Steve Mattoon, incumbent Brad Kennedy and incumbent Kathy Nienhueser; Leyton School Board: incumbent Jed Benish, incumbent Colleen Cruise and incumbent Kevin Henke; Potter-Dix School Board: incumbent Bryan Herboldsheimer, incumbent Royce McConnell and incumbent Tim Maas; Creek Valley School Board: incumbent Brandon Hixon, incumbent Matthew Klingman and incumbent Mike Hansen.
Miller has filed his intent to return to District 1 County Commissioner. Arterburn has filed to return to the Sidney City Council. Kevin Henke and Jed Benish have filed their intent to return to the Leyton School Board, Kennedy has filed to return to the Sidney School Board and Todd Rust has submitted his intent to run for the Creek Valley School Board.
Filing forms are available at the Cheyenne County Clerk's office, on the county website at http://www.cheyennecountyne.net, or on the Secretary of State website at http://www.sos.nebraska.gov/elections.
Voters may request an Early Voting Ballot at this time. Applications can be mailed, emailed, picked up at my office, downloaded from the Clerk's website or use the application in the Sidney Sun-Telegraph.
All of the voters' information (address, party affiliation, etc.) must be completed correctly. If in doubt, call the Cheyenne County Clerk's office at 308-254-2141.
