Sidney Boys Fall to Chase County, Sterling

Sidney's Red Raider basketball team is still looking for its first win of the season, and hosted the Chase County Longhorns on Friday here in Sidney.

Chase County's high-scoring offense got the jump on the Red Raiders, building up an 11 point lead early on, but the Raiders fought back in the second quarter to narrow the Longhorn's lead to 30-to-18 at the half.

Sidney slowed down the Longhorns offense, but could not score enough to chip away at the lead and fell by a final score of 64-to-38.

It didn't get any easier as the boys traveled down to Sterling, Colo., to take on the powerhouse Tigers in a Saturday afternoon matchup.

The Tigers were able to smother the Raiders offense, dominating inside and forcing Sidney to take outside shots while the Sterling boys racked up points to pull out to a 49-to-23 halftime lead.

A 26 point third quarter by Sterling put the game away, and the Raiders lost by a final score of 79-to-37.

Sidney travels to Fort Morgan, Colo., on Friday looking for their first win of the season against the Mustangs.
