Lady Raiders Nipped by Chase County / Rebound Against Sterling

The Lady Raiders hosted the Chase County Lady Longhorns on Friday, and a tough battle betwen the teams ended in a last second defeat for the Lady Raiders.

Sidney had stayed with the visitors for most of the game, but fell behind in the second half. A furious rally to overcome a double-digit deficit came up just short, and the Sidney squad fell by a final score of 42-to-40.

Sidney traveled down to Sterling, Colo., to take on the Lady Tigers, and quickly came out and started to dominate the home team. Strong drives by senior Nicole Birner and great inside play by seniors Mattie Johnson and Kendra Nesbitt built up a Sidney lead going into the half. Sidney's lock-down defense was too much for the Lady Tigers, as the strong play by junior Karly Sylvester inside forced the Lady Tigers to launch long distance shots with little success. Sidney went on to win the game 57-to-25, moving their season record to 2-and-3 on the year.

Sidney travels to Fort Morgan, Colo., on Friday to take on the Lady Mustangs.
