Sidney Judge Selected for Nebraska State Bar Foundation's 2019 Class of Fellows

Lincoln – Hon. Randin R. Roland of Sidney, Judge of the County Court, 12th Judicial District, is one of 30 Nebraska lawyers nominated, and then selected, for the 2019 Class of Fellows by the Nebraska State Bar Foundation.

The Fellows were introduced Oct. 10 at the Bar Foundation's annual Legacy of Liberty Breakfast in La Vista. Thirty Fellows are nominated each year based on their dedication to improving the administration of justice, their leadership in the legal profession, their civic service and integrity, and their support of the Foundation.

At the Breakfast, the Bar Foundation's Law-Related Education Committee announced its 2020 theme, "Educate to Engage: Citizenship through Civics."

The Nebraska State Bar Foundation is dedicated to serving the citizens of Nebraska and the legal profession through the administration and funding of innovative and creative programs directed toward the improvement of the administration of justice and the fulfillment of the American vision of equal justice for all.

Judge Roland has been on the bench since 2006 and served as Presiding Judge in 2008-09 and 2016-17. From 2003 to 2006, he was Chief Deputy in the Cheyenne County Attorney's Office, where he had worked since 1995.

Judge Roland received his J.D. from Creighton University School of Law in 1993. He received his B.S. Magna Cum Laude from Northern Arizona University. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the Bar Associations of Nebraska and South Dakota. He also is a member of the American Judges Association, Nebraska County Judges Association,  Cheyenne County Lawyers' Association and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.

In addition, he serves on the Nebraska Supreme Court Commission on Children in the Courts and chair of the Services Subcommittee. He is a member of the Nebraska Supreme Court Language Access Committee, the Nebraska Supreme Court Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee and the Nebraska Coalition for Juvenile Justice.

He has been a volunteer judge of the Judge Lyle Strom High School Mock Trial Program and has served as attorney-coach for the Sidney High School Mock Trial team. He also has been the Southern Panhandle Team Lead Judge for the Through the Eyes of the Child Initiative. And he is president of the Here Wee Grow Child Development Center Board of Directors.
