Ogallala Indians Sink Raiders, 41-22

Sidney’s Red Raider Football team saw their chances for a playoff berth practically disappear as they lost their fourth straight, dropping a 41-to-22 contest at Weymouth Feild Friday night to the visiting Ogallala Indians.

Ogallala started fast, scoring when the Indians started with a 75 yard kickoff return that led to a quick touchdown.

A missed field goal attempt gave Sidney an opportunity, but two fumbles led to a safety, putting the visitors up 9-to-0.

Sidney narrowed the gap with a score of their own to end the first quarter at 9-to-6, but Ogallala was able to put up 12 points in the second quarter to open a 21-to-6 halftime lead.

Penalties, fumbles, and dropped passes plagued the Red Raiders, and Ogallala capitalized by scoring another 12 unanswered points in the third quarter to take a dominating 33-to-6 lead going into the final period.

Sidney was able to put some points on the board, but it was not enough to threaten the Indian’s lead, and the Raiders dropped another game to fall to 2-and-4 On the year.

Junior Beau Wamsley had 14 carries for 81 yards and a touchdown in the loss. Sidney finally snagged its first interception of the year on senior Cayden Jobman’s pick and return late in the game.

Sidney travels on Friday to face the 4-and-3 Chase County Longhorns who lead the C1 District 8 standings.
