Local agencies are coming together to help workers trying to stay in the workforce.
Western Nebraska Community College, the City of Sidney and the Department of Labor are collaborating to offer workshops in developing skills necessary to again be employed. The event will be held in rooms 115/116 at theSidney campus of WNCC.
The goal of the event is to help job seekers strengthen their chances of being hired during the Oct. 16 Job Fair at the Cheyenne County Community Center.
Four workshops are scheduled, including “Job Seeking Strategies,” “Resume Writing,” “Interview Skills,” and “Dress for Success.” In addition to the workshops, a “Lunch and Learn” luncheon is planned. The Lunch & Learn is an opportunity for employers to share what assets they seek in a new employee.
The workshops are scheduled to help job seekers who plan to attend the Job Fair Oct. 16 at the
Cheyenne County Community Center. The Job Fair is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Occupations represented will include nursing, transportation and CDL drivers, insurance and medical process analysts and manufacturing.
Western Community College and the Nebraska Department of Labor will be onhand to discuss two-year college degree programs as well.
