Sterling Concert Series Starts Oct. 13

The Sterling series will kick off Oct. 13 with the "Take Me Home" tribute to John Denver starring Jim Cury who looks and sounds like Denver.  You are sure to remember the wonderful hits that are so well connected to John Denver's legacy  such as "Leaving on a Jet Plane", Rocky Mountain High, "Annie's Song", and "Sunshine on my Shoulder".  You will enjoy this performance as it unfolds on stage at this amazing live performance.

The second Sterling show will be Nov. 2 with the April Verch Band, a mostly Celtic show.  In addition to her guitarist and bass player, April joins right in there with her fiddle and amazing voice singing old time American and Appalachian songs.  You might even hear the more rare mandolin in the background as well as foot percussion.  In addition to the Celtic songs, the program will include songs like "Danny boy", "Fool Such As I", an Elvis Presley song, and "San Antonio Rose", an old western made popular by Bob Wills and Patsy Cline.   An accomplished step dancer, April hails from Ottawa Valley, Canada.

The kids as well as the adults will love the Popovich Comedy Pet Theater which will be in Sterling May 7. Popovich, who was a longtime member of the Ringling Bros. & Barnum Bailey Circus, has a second love for animals and decided to put his interest in comedy and juggling together with his love for animals. More than 30 rescued pets make up the menagerie of this unique show.  Come and see hat tricks, ladder tricks, Weiner dog tricks and white dove tricks as well as see his parrot, Mr. Greenfeathers, and his 12 cats perform.

In addition to these Sterling shows, your ticket will allow you to attend all shows in Holyoke, Fort Morgan, Kimball, Neb., and Loveland.  If there is enough interest in a show in these areas, a bus will be available.

The bargain price for all of these nearly 20 shows is $45 for an adult ticket and $15 for a student ticket. Family tickets are available for $100 which admits two adults and all of their children. Where could you have more fun for such a nominal cost?  We aren't able to accept credit cards yet this year, but personal checks made payable to Sterling Concert Series are fine.

I invite you to look for us   at Sugar Beet Days on Sept. 21 & 22 at the courthouse square. Donations and sponsorships are also welcome.  If you'd like further information, you may call me, Carol Graybill at 970-522-1421.
