The High Plains Arts Council is hosting Tara Vaughan's "She Rocks the Women of Rock" 7 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Sidney High School Performing Arts Center.
Vaughan is known for her soulful vocals and piano techniques that are reminiscent of "a bygone era," according to her press release. Her vocal style reflects influences of legends such as Patsy Cline and Sam Cooke, and her piano mastery is influenced by performers such as Carole King and Elton John.
"She Rocks" celebrates women artists and songwriters of the 1960s to 1980s, women together with songs and stories. Backed by an all-star band, Vaughan performs music from artists like Janis Joplin, Linda Ronstadt, Aretha Franklin, Blondie, Heart and many more.
She is a graduate of Tufts University. She is a singer-songwriter who has independently released three albums, the most recent "Dandelion Wine," was nominated for several Omaha Entertainment and Arts Awards.
Tickets for the show are $13 for adults, $7 for seniors and $5 for students and are sold at the door.
