LINCOLN – NET, Nebraska's PBS and NPR Stations, is hitting the road this summer to bring a variety of free events to towns across western Nebraska.
Beginning May 29 and ending June 3, the tour includes stops in Chadron, Alliance, Scottsbluff, Mitchell, Sidney, Gering, Lewellen, Ogallala and Brule.
Free screenings of NET's new documentary "Small Town Cops" will provide an informative look at the changing role of police work in Nebraska's small towns and rural areas. NET producer Bill Kelly and local law enforcement will be present to answer questions at each session.
NET leadership will host a series of morning and afternoon "Town Talk" sessions, providing residents with the opportunity to visit about their communities.
Nebraskans who are curious about how to enjoy more of PBS's content in a convenient way can attend one of several "How To: Video Streaming Workshops." The workshops are designed to teach those new to technology how to use the PBS Video app, as well as NET's free video streaming services.
Families can join in on the fun during one of several PBS KIDS events. Children can meet character Jet Propulsion from "Ready Jet Go!" and watch his new movie "One Small Step."
To round out the week, residents are invited to attend one of two tapings of NET's arts and humanities radio program "Friday LIVE" and one taping of an episode of the popular lawn and garden show "Backyard Farmer."
