D-9 District Sends Qualifiers to State

Creek Valley's Storm Track and Field team had the most success of the local teams at the D-9 District Track meet on Friday, qualifying the most athletes for the state meet in Omaha next week. The Storm boys and girls came out tops of the local schools, with the boys missing out on first place by one point, while the girls placed fourth overall.

Storm senior Garrett Sawyer continued his domination of the 100 and 200 meter sprints, winning both events to punch his ticket to Omaha. Senior Cooper Reichman's second place finish in both the 1600 meters and 3200 meters qualified him for both events, and both Sawyer and Reichman also qualified with the 4x100 and 4x800 meter Relay Teams. Junior Patrick Hansen won the Triple Jump, also sending him to Omaha for the Storm. For the girls, juniors Caitlyn Mueller and Chloe Stupka earned their trips to Omaha with a first and second place showing in the Triple Jump, and senior Haylee Sitzman qualified with her second place showing in the Pole Vault.

Leyton junior Madelyn Watchorn continued her success in the 100 Meter Hurdles, placing second overall and qualifying her for the state meet for the Lady Warriors.
