Potter-Dix Graduates 15

Potter-Dix High School said goodbye to the Class of 2019 on Saturday in an afternoon graduation ceremony filled with proud parents, family members and well-wishers as the senior class turned the page and looked forward to beginning the next chapters of their lives. The attendees were treated to a slide show highlighting all of the graduating seniors from infancy, elementary school, and finally as young adults.

Class of 2019 Salutatorian Ciera George gave brief opening remarks welcoming the attendees, which was then followed by the presentation of scholarships to the seniors. George then gave the Salutatorian address, followed by Class President and Valedictorian Brooke Moench's remarks. Ruth Olsen then gave the commencement address, which was focused on a quote from Albert Einstein, "A ship is always safe at shore, but that's not what it's built for". She emphasized that the graduates need to embark on their own journeys, and to not be afraid of the unknown but to remember their friends and the people of the community will always be there to support them. Olsen's address was then followed by the presentation of the diplomas.

During the presentation of the diplomas, members of the audience fired off confetti cannons which were definitely not part of the official ceremony, but were enjoyed nonetheless by the graduates and the attendees of the ceremony. Senior Shane Krafczik delivered the closing remarks, and the ceremony concluded with graduates, friends and families eager to get to the many graduation parties that were scheduled.
