The wind and cool weather didn’t stop the caped crusader or the web crawler from running for a cause Saturday.
Plains West CASA hosted its first Superhero 5K run Saturday, April 27, at Legion Park.
“My goal was 25 adults and we exceeded that number,” said Plains West CASA Executive Director Krista Bruns. “We had 37 Superheros register for the run; 28 adults and nine kids.”
Bruns said the event well as CASA’s first 5K run.
“We had many people pre-register and some who signed up the day of the event,” she said.
Bruns added seeing the costumes was entertaining as well. She added they hope to make the Superhero 5K an annual event. She said April is designated as Child Abuse Prevention Month and the run would likely be scheduled for the last Saturday of the month.
The next training of advocate volunteers is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. June 6 at the Plains West CASA office.
The event was also sponsored by Great Western Bank.
