Sidney Second at Chadron Invite; Jackson Witt's 81 Leads Raiders

Sidney's Red Raider boy's golf team traveled to Chadron on Thursday to compete in the Chadron Invitational at Ridgeview Golf Course. The Sidney team ended with a score of 360, good enough for second place in a field of nine teams.

The Raiders were led by senior Jackson Witt's round of 81, which earned him third place individually, and junior Cayden Jobman's round of 85 which earned him fifth place individually.

The Alliance team took top honors with a team score of 338, led by Crayten Cyza's round of 79 which earned him first place individually.

"We had a great day on the course, and ended up with a second place finish with Jackson Witt placing third individually," Sidney head coach Ryan Plummer said.

Burke Splichal's round of 96 and Trey Douglas' round of 98 were the difference in Sidney holding off the third place Scottsbluff team by four strokes.

Sidney's golfers are improving their consistency and lowering their scores as the season progresses, and coach Plummer is hoping the improvement pays off as the Raiders head towards the district and state tournaments.

"We are definitely getting better, and keeping practices and meets competitive is key. I'm very happy with how they played, but we still have room for improvement," said Plummer.
