Youth baseball umpire instructional clinics are being held in Sidney and Chadron, and any person interested in becoming an umpire for the upcoming baseball seasons is encouraged to attend.
Offered by the Western Nebraska Umpire Association (WNUA), the clinics will be run on May 4 at Fitzgibbons Field in Chadron, and on May 11 at the north field in Legion Park at Sidney. Both clinics run from 9am until 1pm.
These clinics are offered at no charge, and designed to help those new to umpiring learn how to properly officiate a game. Coaches are also encouraged to attend, as rule interpretations and understanding the functions of an officiating crew will be discussed to assist coaches on how to properly instruct their athletes on the rules of the game. The WNUA will provide a certificate of completion at the end of the clinic for each participant.
For more information, contact Jeff Parsons at (308) 249-2488 or Cody Hofrock at (308) 249-2036. Additional information is also provided at the WNUA website at http://www.wnuaumpires.com.
