Members of the Cheyenne County Farm Bureau met with more than 380 students during the week of March 18-22 for an Ag in the Classroom program. The goal was to meet with as many PreK-2nd grade students in Cheyenne County (Sidney, Leyton, Potter-Dix) to discuss dairy, milk, and the agriculture industry.
As part of the program, students were read a book called "Milk Comes From a Cow" by Dan Yunk, then asked questions related to cows or farms. The students also were able to discuss what their favorite flavors of milk are.
The program closed with Farm Bureau members giving each of the students an activity book and coloring sheet, which was also part of a coloring contest sponsored by the Cheyenne County Farm Bureau. The Cheyenne County Farm Bureau also donated two of the books, "Milk Comes From a Cow" to each of the schools library. Farm Bureau donated 10 books to schools. Teachers were also given a packet of lesson plans related to the book they can use in their curriculum if it fits.
Along with Ag In The Classroom, other programs sponsored by the Farm Bureau Foundation include the Ag Pen Pal Program, Ag Field Trips, AgMag, Student Scholarships, Educator Awards, and Leadership Development among many others.
