Peetz Baseball Falls to Haxtun

Peetz’s Bulldog baseball team hosted the Haxtun Fightin’ Bulldogs on Tuesday, and are still searching for their first win of the season as they lost to the visitors by a final score of 20-to-0. Peetz used five pitchers in the game, in an attempt to show Haxtun some different looks, while letting the Peetz pitchers gain experience.

Haxtun started off the game by putting up five runs in the first inning, while the Bulldogs failed to score any runs in response. Haxtun scored in every inning, collecting 12 hits over four innings while driving in thirteen runs. Peetz sophomore Kaleigh Leek and junior Mike Turpin were both able to collect hits, and Turpin also stole a base during the game.

Sophomore Ashlyn Runge faced 10 batters and gave up four runs on one hit and five walks, while Turpin struck out two of the six batters he faced while pitching. The pitchers and catcher Gus Cowan had difficulty stopping Haxtun’s aggressive base running, giving up 32 total stolen bases in the game.

Peetz was scheduled to travel to Weldon Valley on Thursday for a double header against the Warriors.
