Clifford L. Sander, age 90 of Sidney and a former Lodgepole resident peacefully passed away Thursday, February 14, 2019.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, March 16th in the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Friday, March 15th from 1-7:00 P.M. to sign Cliff's register book and leave condolences for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Cliff's name to congregate meals, c/o Judy Schaefer, 627 Toledo St., Sidney, NE 69162. Clifford Louis Sander was born on December 26, 1928 to Louis George and Lenore Alma (Happold) Sander in Grand Island, NE where he spent his childhood and early adulthood.
On February 12, 1956 he was united in marriage to Arlene Stopkotte and they were able to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. Cliff started working in the dry cleaning business in Grand Island. They moved to Lodgepole where he started his own cleaning business called "Cliff's Cleaners". He later went to work for Cheyenne County for at least 30 years before retiring.
Cliff enjoyed putting together model airplanes and working on his red Ford truck, which was his pride and joy. He loved going to Deadwood and playing the slot machines. Cliff was a devoted husband, father and grandpa. He will be truly missed by all and will never be forgotten. He was a great man.
Cliff is survived by (5) children: Linda and husband John Decastro of Tucson, AZ, Lana and husband Dennis Speer of Sidney, Teena Nelson and spouse Mike Morgan of Potter, Gloria Chase of Grand Island and Mike Sander of Lincoln: sister; Joan Theil of CA: several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Cliff was preceded in death by his parents: Louis and Lenore: his wife Arlene and a sister Barbara Tamms.
