Stanley Thomas 'Stan' Kahl - Obituary

Stanley Thomas Kahl "Stan" (60), son of Duane and Kathleen Kahl, passed away March 2, 2019 at Bergan Mercy Hospice House in Omaha NE due to complications of his long term struggle with diabetes.

Stan was born June 24, 1958 in Sidney NE. He attended Sidney St. Patrick's High School, where he excelled in sports, and graduated in 1976. After high school he went to the University of Nebraska Lincoln and worked for Sauter Hamann Jewelers. He married Cyndee Tesar in 1982 in Lincoln. They moved to Florida where Stan worked in jewelry sales. After their divorce, Stan moved back to Sidney in 1987. He was in a serious car accident in 1995 that left him unable to work. He lived at home on the farm during his recovery and then moved to Scottsbluff, NE in 2008. After his parents moved to Omaha, Stan moved to Bellevue, NE in 2017 to be closer to family.

Stan loved skiing when he was much younger. His other hobbies included fishing and of course watching Husker football. He was like his father in that he also loved Western and War films.

Stan is survived by his mother Kathleen; siblings, William, Kathy, Ed, Charles (Cheryl), Tom (Danielle) and Julie (Erik); brother in law Tim (Jana); as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and a great nephew.

Stan is preceded in death by his father Duane (2017), his twin brother Steve (2015), and his sister Jana (2011).

Mass of Christian Burial for Stanley Thomas Kahl will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bellevue NE on March 8, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney, NE later this spring.

Bethany Funeral Home in La Vista, NE is in charge of arrangements.

Stan had many obstacles put before him in this life. Through it all he remained a very gentle sole, kind to all, and his dry humor will be missed by his family.
