Kenneth Mathew Perez, 53, of Sterling, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Sterling Living Center in Sterling, Colorado.
Kenneth was born on March 30, 1965 in Chappell, NE to Juan and Clara (Garcia) Perez.
He resided at Al-Mar in Julesburg from 1972 until 2015. Kenneth then moved to the Sterling Living Center where he resided until his death.
Kenneth enjoyed music, trips to the skating rink, swimming and dances while at the Al-Mar, and especially enjoyed all the girls/nurses at the Sterling Living Center, which made his last years so wonderful.
Kenny recognized and enjoyed family visits, in fact called them in on occasion and midnight, blizzards and other times.
Kenny had a contagious smile and was appreciated by those who loved and cared for him. He would recognize his family by voice and would light up and smile.
He was preceded in death by his father, Juan Perez, Sr .; sisters, Clara Lynn Morin and Happy Perez; niece, Maria Hankins, as well as his maternal and paternal grandparents.
He survived by his mother, Clara Garcia of Sidney, NE, brothers, Juan Perez, wife Georjean, Gilbert Perez and his long time partner Donna Davis, Rudy Perez and wife Kelli, Charles Perez and wife Amanda; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Julesburg with Father Michael O'Brien as Celebrant. Interment will follow at the Ovid Cemetery. A Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m., Monday at the church.
Visitation will be on Monday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Prairie Hills Funeral Home in Julesburg.
A memorial has been established to St. Anthony's Catholic Church.
