Sidney Regional Medical Center (SRMC) has announced a new agreement for emergency patient transfers. As part of the continuum of care, the hospital is responsible for managing the transportation of patients to the next level of care. Because it is sometimes necessary to expedite the process, SRMC has partnered with Medical Air Rescue Company (MARC) for its ground and air transfer services.
Effective March 3, MARC will be contacted first when a transfer is needed for a patient at SRMC. Jason Petik, Chief Executive Officer, said “The community’s partnership with MARC has been very successful in many ways.”
Should MARC crews be busy when another patient transfer is required, other services are available to provide.
“Patient care is first,” said Evie Ranslem-Parsons, SRMC director of marketing/P.R. “If that happens, we’ll go down the list and make sure they get the care they need.”
The partnership will not affect day-to-day emergency services. When an ambulance is needed, Regional West Ambulance Service still has a county contract and will continue to respond to emergencies.
MARC is an independent emergent/non-emergent transfer partner headquartered in Rapid City, SD with air and ground resources located throughout the region. MARC is fully staffed 24/7.
Sidney Regional Medical Center is a 25-bed, Critical Access Hospital (CAH) serving the area.
