Nebraska Brass Brings Melodies to Sidney

Another award-winning musical program is in store for Sidney residents tomorrow (Saturday), when the High Plains Arts Council brings the Nebraska Brass to the stage at the Sidney High School Performing Arts Center.

Founded in 1987, the Nebraska Brass is one of the Midwest's most popular brass quintets. Audiences young and old enjoy the group's serious musicianship and light-hearted humor as they present a variety of music ranging from classical to popular, Dixieland, and jazz. The groups Sidney stop is part of the touring programs of the Nebraska Arts Council and have performed in more than 60 Nebraska communities in the last 25 years.

According to information provided by the group, Nebraska Brass is comprised of musicians with a wealth of experience in both classical and commercial idioms. Members have performed with ensembles such as the Omaha Symphony Orchestra, Lincoln Symphony, Nebraska Jazz Orchestra, Dallas Symphony, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Strategic Air Command Band (USAF) and Mannheim Steamroller. In addition, members have toured and performed throughout the United States, Europe, South America, Japan, and the Caribbean with numerous musical ensembles.

Two trumpets, a French Horn, Trombone and Tuba will combine in harmony as the group performs numbers that organizer say are sure to please local music lovers.

Concert tickets will be available at the door. They are $12 for adults, $6 for seniors and $5 for students (including college). Children under five are free. The concert begins at 7 p.m.
