Sidney Public Library Celebrates Dr. Seuss

The Friends of the Sidney Public Library are spreading literary awareness and celebrating a favored children's author by hosting a birthday party for Dr. Seuss.

The birthday party is scheduled for Saturday, March 2, at the library.

Theodor Seuss Geisel, also known as "Dr. Seuss," celebrates his 115th birthday on Mar 2, 2019. Though he died in 1991, birthday parties occur across the country on this date to celebrate the creative man who for decades has helped children learn to love to read.

For the fifth year, Friends of the Sidney Public Library members invite and encourage children to attend the celebration. A Dr. Seuss-themed story time, games, crafts, a Seuss photo booth and 'Who-treats" are among the activities scheduled for the event. Participants are encouraged to dress as their favorite Dr. Seuss character.

Children who visit all the booths and get their Who-Passport stamps will be entered into a drawing to win a prize.

The event is free to the pubic.

Friends of the Sidney Public Library is a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing awareness of and appreciation for the library. Friends of the Sidney Public Library members encourage literary awareness to enrich the lives of Cheyenne County residents by serving as advocates of library services. Members have the opportunity to volunteer at library programs, special events and service projects and help raise funds to purchase equipment and materials not available through the library budget. The Friends of the Sidney Public Library board is seeking new members to fulfill its mission.
