James (Jim) Michael Deaver, 75, The Villages, FL passed on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at the Cypress Care Center, Wildwood, FL.
Jim was born in Lubbock, TX, July 24, 1943, the oldest of six children to Keith and Frances (Crogan) Deaver while Keith was serving as a US Army pilot during World War II. He attended St. Patrick's Elementary, Junior High and High School, Sidney, NE and graduated from Chadron State College, Chadron, NE with a bachelor's degree in Business. Jim served in the Nebraska National Guard based in Sidney, NE. After college he managed the family business and later bought and operated Colton Grain in Colton, NE serving as a board member to the Nebraska Grain and Feed Association from 1987-1990.
As a member of the Sidney community, Jim was active in the Knights of Columbus, Sidney Elks Lodge, and St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Also, he enjoyed the many hunting and fishing opportunities offered by Western Nebraska.
Later in life Jim was a real estate agent and home appraiser in Southern California, where he and Wanda Rainbolt renewed their friendship and were married in 2006. In 2010, Jim and Wanda retired to The Villages, FL where he regularly attended St. Timothy's Catholic Church, participated in the California Club, Polo Ridge Club, Central States Club, enjoyed golf outings with friends, and drawing and colored pencils classes.
Jim is survived by his wife, Wanda Rainbolt; his children: Jeanne Deaver (Darren Chinn), Seattle, WA; Annette (Tim) Pella, Idaho Falls, ID; Charles [CJ] (Heather) Deaver, Yorktown, VA; and Diane Deaver, Seattle, WA; his grandchildren: Anthony Pella, Kelsey Pella, Carley Deaver, and Sylvia Deaver; and his siblings: Donna Deaver Chrysler, Denver, CO; Richard (Denise) Deaver, Sturgis, SD; Jerry (Karen) Deaver, North Fort Myers, FL; Alice Deaver (Kevin) Lasater, St. Louis, MO; and Joseph (Terri) Deaver, Douglas, WY.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. A Memorial Service with interment will be held July 24 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Sidney, NE with Father Stephen Deaver presiding.
The family would like to express Special Thanks to the Staff at Cypress Care Center, Wildwood, FL for care given to Jim during his stay there.
