Sidney Performance Award Program Recognizes Students

Sidney Public Schools' top students were recognized at the board of education meeting Monday.

The student recognitions were through the Sidney Middle/Senior High School Monthly Performance Award Program.

The Monthly Performance Award acknowledges other criteria as well as achievement. These criteria are:

1. Superior academic performance, (or), dramatic improvement of classroom work, G.P.A. or attitude toward learning.

2. Exceptional work effort toward a particular class project.

3. Outstanding Contribution to the class.

4. Leadership exhibited in the class/school.

5. Citizenship emphasized and modeled.

6. Service to school.

Recognized for the December Performance Awards, along with nomination comments, are:

7th Grade

Jenju Peters

Jenju is a take-charge type of person when given or accomplishing a task. Her drive to succeed inspires her to set goals and work hard to achieve them and her grades prove this. Jenju sees the strengths in others and encourages them to use those strengths to make the team better. She is kind and considerate of others. Jenju is a team player that believes in the power of "us" whether she is competing in the classroom or in athletics. Jenju is the daughter of Robert and Mindy Peters.

8th Grade

Allison Deal

Allison Deal has been chosen as Sidney Middle School's student of the month for December.  Allison is an outstanding role model in the classroom for other students to follow. She always has a positive attitude and is always willing to help out.  Allison participates in several extracurricular activities like volleyball, basketball and track. All of these qualities make her an excellent choice for Student of the Month.  Allison is the daughter of Mark and Melissa Deal.

9th Grade

Hannah Ernst

Hannah is very involved in classes and also in One Act. She consistently gives her best work and has such a positive attitude. She is helpful and kind. Hannah's work ethic is fantastic. She is always prepared and ready to take on the world! She is involved with art club, youth group, and enjoys reading and taking care of kids (babysitting). Hannah would like to attend Colorado Christian University and become an author. She is the daughter of Phillip & Jennifer Ernst.

10th Grade

Garrett Jones

Garrett is a great student with a good attitude, and he often helps his peers when they struggle.

He is an excellent student that consistently turns in quality work.  He leads by example, which encourages others to be and do their best. He is responsible and takes his responsibilities seriously. Garrett is the son of Shane & Jeremee Jones.

11th Grade

Madyson Johnstone

Madyson (MJ) was selected because of her academic performance, and Leadership/citizenship. She is a member of Spanish Club, Science Club, S Club, track team, and basketball team. She enjoys pole vaulting, spending time at the lake with friends & family. Her future college plans are to pursue a job in the medical field & continue her track career. Madyson is the daughter of Wade Johnstone & Jamie Johnstone.

12th Grade

Madison Fehringer

Madison was selected because of her dramatic improvement in school. She has excelled in the classroom and attendance from last year. She is involved in cross country, track, and Heartbreakers. Outside of school, she works at Cabela's and loves to sing and ride horses. Madison plans on attending college to pursue a degree in equine science and equine training management. After gaining her degree, she plans on creating her own business to use slaughter bound and blm mustages as therapy horses for disable children & veterans. Her parents are Darla Arnold & Ron Fehringer.
