Peetz Girls Fall to Bridgeport

Peetz's Lady Bulldog basketball team is in a challenging rebuilding year, and played host to the undefeated Bridgeport Lady Bulldogs on Thursday.

The Peetz girls played hard and never quit, but fell to the visitors 80-to-11. The visitors quickly established why they were undefeated, piling up 17 unanswered points until Peetz sophomore Addyson Gipfert drained a three-pointer with 15 seconds left in the period to get Peetz on the board.

Peetz had difficulty getting the ball past half court the entire game, with Bridgeport's strong defense harassing and causing turnovers on nearly every possession. Peetz freshman Paige Maddox was able to get a steal and drive for a layup in the final moments of the second period to send the teams into halftime with a 44-to-5 score.

Most of the second half was played with the clock continuously running due to the mercy rule, but the Bridgeport team kept scoring, even with their substitutes playing most of the half. The Peetz girls are still in search of their first win.
