An injury-plagued Creek Valley Storm basketball team hobbled to Julseberg Friday night to face the Sedgwick County Cougars, and were unable to match the high-scoring home team, losing by a score of 64-to-25.
Creek Valley head coach Bill Wilber commented on the game, saying, “We could not play our normal game due to injuries to two key players. When we can’t run our fast-break offense, it really hurts us.”
Sedgwick is a team an opponent needs to be at full strength to have any chance of a victory, and the Cougars quickly pulled away from the Storm early, putting up 38 points to the Storm’s 14 in the first half, opening an insurmountable lead.
“They (Sedgwick) are very good, and well-balanced. You can’t take anything away from how well they played,” said Wilber.
With substitutions, the Cougars continued to be effective on offense, putting up 26 more point to the Storm’s 11 in the second half, to seal the victory.
The Storm gets almost a week to heal up before the Perkins County Tournament on Dec. 20.
