Lee Roy Foster

Lee Roy Foster, 94 of Gurley, NE passed away Friday November 9th, 2018 at the Box Butte General Hospital in Alliance NE.

He was born January 10, 1924 in York NE to Roy & Mildred Foster. Lee grew up on a farm outside of Bradshaw NE where he attended school. He joined the Army during WWII, serving with the 100th Division in Central Europe. On his discharge from service he received his degree from the University of Nebraska in Ag Business. Lee and Jeanette (Otto) were married July 13th, 1950 in Grand Island NE. They made their home north of Big Springs NE for a short time, then moved to Gurley NE where Lee became the manager of the Farmers Union Coop elevator. Lee served as Fire Chief and as an EMT for the Gurley Fire Department. He was active in many State Grain Organizations. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping with family and watching his children and grandchildren participate in all school activities.

He is survived by his wife Jeanette, his children and spouses, Karen Foster of Gurley NE, Paula Scott of Greybull WY, Mark and Susan Foster of Gurley NE, Wade and Mindy Foster of Hemingford NE, his brother Jay of Fremont NE and Wayne of Lincoln, NE. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Earl.

Graveside services will be Thursday, November 15th at 10:30 a.m., at the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery in Alliance with Pastor Leon “Bud” Gillespie officiating.
