Monday will be a time of recognition and first-hand education as veterans will be honored at South Elementary School.
Military veterans are encouraged to stop by South Elementary between 8:15 and 9:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12, for "Muffins with Military." The event will be an opportunity for students to meet with veterans and for the two generations to share a few minutes in recognition of veterans.
Some of the students were asked what they know about veterans, and what they would like to learn.
"I thought they are fighting for our freedom," said Brendan Meyer.
"They fought in other places to make sure our city is safe," said Harper Misegadis.
Ryder Huck he thinks of veterans serving in the U.S. Army, and James Headley says veterans fought for our country.
They said they are excited to meet veterans Monday.
"The only veteran I know is my grandpa," Headley said.
He said he would like to learn what veterans did in the Service, what they drove in and what they wore.
Veterans are encouraged to RSVP at 308-254-3589 or email [email protected].
