WNCC Aviation Maintenance Information Day Set

The aviation industry continues to grow in the United States.

That means air traffic will continue to increase. And that means the need for aviation maintenance workers will be at an all-time high.

Those interested in learning more about the aviation maintenance field and the Western Nebraska Community College Aviation Maintenance program are invited to WNCC’s Aviation Maintenance Day Wednesday, Nov. 14 at the Sidney Municipal Airport. The event, open to all prospective students and their families, will run from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Those interested in attending are asked to RVSP by visiting wncc.edu/admissions/visit-campus

“This will be the first time the Aviation Maintenance program will have hosted this event, so we’re really looking forward to the opportunity,” said WNCC Aviation Maintenance Program Instructor Jon Leever. “For more than four decades, the WNCC Sidney Campus has helped train a new generation of workforce in the aviation industry, so we’re excited to be able to tell our story and the benefits of joining the program.”

Prospective students will have a hands-on look at the field, which will include how and why riveting is used on aircrafts, the process of a pilot walk around, and some of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.

Representatives from the WNCC admissions and financial aid department will be on hand to provide information regarding the application process and answer any questions. Pizza will be provided for lunch.
