Several Eastern Wyoming College Lancers performed well at the CWC rodeo in Torrington, Wyo., on October 1.
The Eastern Wyoming College Lancer Rodeo team recently returned from Riverton, Wyoming where they competed in the annual rodeo hosted by Central Wyoming College. Several members of the EWC team qualified for the short round held on Sunday.
Freshman Chadron Coffield, of Yuma, CO, continues his quest for a College National Finals qualification with another solid performance in the tie down roping.
He split 5th/6th in the first round, was second in the short round and split 2nd/3rd in the average. Sophomore teammates Garrett Murphy and Canton Afdahl, both of Torrington, finished fifth and sixth in the average of the tie down roping, respectively.
Afdahl and partner Dalton Wieneke, a sophomore out of West Point, Neb., won second in the team roping for the weekend.
They placed second in the first round with a time of 6.6 seconds, and 3rd in the short round with a 7.0 second run.
In the steer wrestling event, freshman Teigen Marchant of Newcastle, Wyo, was fifth in the first round, split 5th/6th in the short round and finish the average in fifth place. Coffield also qualified for the short round of the steer wrestling.
Karissa Rayhill, sophomore of Martin, SD, won the 1st round of the goat tying with a time of 7.5 seconds. She also qualified for the short round of the breakaway roping. Sophomore Brooke Glass of Sidney, NE, was fifnd in the first round of breakaway roping and finished the weekend 6th in the average.
The Lancers will next compete in Lamar, CO October 5-7.
