Creek Valley Volleyball Battles Arthur

Creek Valley's Lady Storm volleyball team hosted the Arthur County Lady Wolves on Friday, and after a tough battle against the visitors fell in three straight sets, 3-to-0.

A raucous crowd enjoyed the match, and even though the home team ultimately lost, all three sets were competitive and exciting to watch.

The first set started with the Lady Wolves jumping out to a big lead, but then the Lady Storm fought back, battling for each point to eventually tie the set at 17.

Arthur County then proceed to score the next 4 points, prompting a timeout from head coach Kelsey Kurt to break the Lady Wolves momentum.

The strategy worked, as Arthur scored the next point to go ahead 22-to-17, but the Lady Storm then went on run, battling back to make the score 24-to-23, before finally losing the set 25-to-23 to the visitors.

The second set was nearly a mirror of the first, with Creek Valley opening up an early lead, and the Lady Wolves having no luck with their ball placement and serves, being forced to battle back into the set against the Lady Storm.

Again the score was eventually knotted at 17, and Arthur then took the lead at 20-to-17, forcing Creek Valley to call a timeout to stop Arthur County's momentum. But the Lady Wolves were on a roll, and were able to put away the Lady Storm in the second set 25-to-20.

The Lady Storm had one more chance to get back into the match, but the third set went much differently than the previous two, with no team having a clear advantage in the beginning until the score was tied at 4-to-4.

Arthur County then went on a run, opening a 8-to-4 lead until Creek Valley went on a run of their own, coming back to tie the match again at 8. But Creek Valley could not sustain their momentum, and ran into a series of volleys where everything went wrong, and fell behind Arthur County 11-to-18.

The Lady Storm managed a late rally to pull closer, but ultimately fell in the third set 25-to-17, losing the match three sets to zero.
