Peetz’s Lady Bulldog volleyball team traveled to Joes, Colo. to take on the Stratton/Liberty Lady Knighted Eagles on Saturday.

Peetz was searching for their first win of the season, and came up short against Stratton/Liberty in straight sets 3-to-0.

After dropping the first set 12-to-25, the Lady Bulldogs fought back in the second, but ultimately fell short in the second set, 21-to-25. Unable to sustain the momentum from the hard fought second set, Peetz dropped the third set 10-to-25 for a 3 sets to 0 loss, dropping the the Lady Bulldogs to 0-and-8 on the season.

Senior Makaela Hill had 12 digs and sophomore Kayleigh Leek had 5 kills in the loss.

On Tuesday, the Leyton Lady Warriors traveled to Oshkosh to face Garden County and Bayard in a triangular meet.

Leyton started off against Bayard, which has struggled against the Lady Warriors in recent years, and after trading points for most of the set, the Lady Warriors pulled away to win 25-to-19. The second set also was close between the teams until its’ latter stages, but the Lady Warriors finished strong and pulled away from Bayard, ending the set 25-to-18 and winning the match 2-to-0.

Leyton senior Kelcie VanAnne had four service aces, and junior Madelyn Watchorn had nine kills in the victory.

Next, Leyton faced a Garden County team looking to top the Lady Warriors for the first time since 2005.

After a fast start by Garden County, the Lady Warriors came back to tie, then pull away from the Lady Eagles. But Leyton could not put the first set away, and Garden County came bask to win 26-to-24.

The second set also started with Garden County jumping out to a quick lead, but Leyton battled back and pulled away to take the second set, 25-to-14. In the third set, Watchorn led the Lady Warriors to a big lead at 24-to-15, but Leyton struggled to get the final point.

Finally, Leyton was able to get the final point and took the set 25-to-21, and the match 2-to-1. Leyton upped their season record to 8-and-2, while Watchorn finished the match with 15 kills in the victory.

The Potter-Dix Lady Coyotes also had a triangular on Tuesday agains Wallace and Wauneta-Palisade.

After dropping the first set against Wallace 25-to-14, the Lady Coyotes fought hard in the second set, but could not get past the Wallace team, losing the second set 25-to-23 for a 2-to-0 match loss.

Next, the Lady Coyotes took on the Wauneta-Palisade Lady Broncos. The first set was a hard fought battle, but the Lady Broncos were able to keep Potter-Dix at bay, taking the first set 25-to-21.

The second set was not as competitive, as Potter-Dix was unable to find their scoring rhythm, and lost the second set 25-to-8. Sophomore Kelsey Hoffman had 12 kills and senior Ciera George had 6 kills on the day. With the losses, Potter-Dix’s record fell to 2-and-4 on the season.
