Creek Valley Storm Tops Maywood/Hays 76-38

Creek Valley’s Storm football team traveled to Maywood Friday night and defeated the Maywood/Hayes Center Wolves 76-to-38 to win their first game of the 2018 season.

Storm sophomore Justin Ningen scored 5 touchdowns in the victory.

The contest was competitive between the teams, with Creek Valley leading by 12 at halftime, but a strong second half by the Storm put the game out of reach for Maywood/Hayes Center. The Storm outscored the Wolves 46-to-20 in the second half to finish the game with a lopsided 76-to-38 final score.

The Storm tallied 595 total yards, with 451 coming via rush and 144 the result of the passing game. In addition to four rushing touchdowns, Justin Ningen also added a fifth touchdown with a fumble recovery that resulted in 6 points for Creek Valley. Junior Patrick Hansen was the defensive standout of the game for the Storm, registering 13 total tackles while also gaining 212 yards rushing, receiving, and returning kickoffs.

The victory improves the Storm’s record to 1-and-3 on the season, and they next face Arthur County at Creek Valley on Friday.
