Victoria Ann "Vicky" Mapel, 71, of Pierce, CO passed away on Friday, June 22, 2018 at Thayer County Hospital in Hebron, NE. She was born April 3, 1947 in Sidney, NE to Harry and Lillian (Carlson) Hazlitt where she grew up and graduated from Sidney High School.
Vicky married Alvin Mapel and they had two children, later divorcing. She worked at Bonell Good Samaritan Center as a home health and nurse aide and later for Highland Elementary School as a health aide.
Those thankful to have shared her life include: two sons; Craig (Suzanne) Mapel of Fort Collins, CO and Shawn (Amy) Mapel of Chaska, MN; five grandchildren, Ryan Mapel of Fort Collins, Katelyn, Lauren, Macy and Oliver Mapel of Chaska, MN; brother, Robert Hazlitt of McCook, NE and sister, Gladys Belford of Irvine, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Richard, Don, Bonita and Rodney Hazlitt.
A Life Celebration Reception will be held on Monday, July 23 at 2:00 p.m. at the Adamson Reception Center. Vicky will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney, NE with her beloved parents and brother.
