Dorothy Magers, 91, of Sidney, NE formerly of Greeley, CO passed away June 4, 2018 at Grace Pointe Rehabilitation in Greeley. She was born July 22, 1926 in Elsie, NE to Gust and Florence (Fosbinder) Nelson.
Dorothy married Dale Edward Magers on December 30, 1945 in Elsie and he preceded her in death.
She worked as a bank teller for a number of years and was active in the American Legion Auxiliary, Daughters of Rebekah, Westview Church of Christ and NCMC volunteer. Dorothy had recently moved back to Nebraska to be near family. She enjoyed crafting; ceramics, woodworking with Dale, sewing and baking her family favorite cinnamon rolls.
Thankful to have shared her life are her children; Linda (Moose) Shoemaker of Potter, NE and Paula (Randy) Melhauser-Schuermann of Chesterfield, MO; 5 grandchildren; Jeff (Julia) Melhauser of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Chris Melhauser of Chicago, IL, Preston Melhauser of Fort Sill, OK, Shawn (Nicole) Shoemaker of Potter, NE and Shannon (Mark) Ostransky of Fremont, NE; 6 great-grandchildren; Jayden, Kenzie, Alexa and Krickett Shoemaker, Madison and Miles Ostransky; sister, Sharon (Ed) Newton of Barrington, RI and brother, Frank (Betty) Royse of Kearney, NE.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister.
Visitation 4-7 p.m. Friday, June 8 at Adamson. Life Celebration service 2 p.m. Sunday, June 10 at Westview Church of Christ, 4151 W. 20th Street, Greeley. Inurnment at Fort McPherson National Cemetery at a later date.
