The Cheyenne County Commissioners met in a special meeting Tuesday to discuss hiring a new Tourism Director and to consider approval of a revised Ambulance Agreement with Regional West Medical Center.
The commissioners and County Attorney Paul Schaub interviewed one more candidate at the state of the meeting. At the end of the interview, the candidate asked who the tourism director answers to, what the relationship is between the director and the board and why the last director left the position. At the close of the meeting, Commissioner Randal Miller moved to go into executive session regarding the selection of a new tourism director.
The board also approved changes to the agreement with Regional West Medical Center for ambulance service to Cheyenne County. Regional West will be required to maintain two ambulances, staffed and equipped, to meet or exceed state regulations, ensure one ambulance is in the county at all times, be on call for and complete transports on a 24-hour, seven day per week basis, transport inmates and patients under law enforcement custody to the nearest appropriate health care facility and bill the appropriate agency, provide EMS services for the Cheyenne County Fair, and transport services as requested.
Cheyenne County is to provide dispatch services at no cost to Regional West, and assist Regional West in locating a suitable site for house duty crew and ambulances.
The agreement is affective July 1. Schaub said it is a two-year agreement reviewed annually.
