Area Teams Excel at D9 Meet

Creek Valley's women's team took first and the Creek Valley men's team placed second in the Class D9 District Tournament Wednesday at Creek Valley High School in Chappell. Leyton and Potter-Dix also competed at the event, with Leyton's women's team placing sixth and their men's team placing tenth, while Potter-Dix's women's team placed third and their men's team placed twelfth.

The area teams had numerous qualifiers for the State Tournament. The top two finishers in in each field event qualify. In the running events, the top two plus the next six fastest times qualify for the State Tournament. Among the girl's state qualifiers, Potter-Dix sends senior Trinity Langley in the high jump and triple jump, and senior Payge Hoffman in the 100 and 200 meter races. Leyton sends sophomore Madelyn Watchorn in the 100 and 300 meter hurdles, and Creek Valley sends senior Payje Misegadis in the Long Jump, 100 meters and 200 meters, sophomore Caitlyn Mueller in the 300 meter hurdles and triple jump

For the boy's, Potter-Dix freshman Brandon Mendoza qualified for the 800 meters and the 4x100 and 4x400 relays teams also qualified. Leyton sends senior Kort Dye in the 110 and 300 meter hurdles and the 4x400 meter relay team. Creek Valley sends senior Pierce Leef and sophomore Noah Knapp in the pole vault, junior Garret Sawyer in the 100 and 200 meters, and the 4x100 relay team.
