Number one seeded Peetz had a bye on Tuesday, the first day of the 1A District 4 Baseball Tournament being held at Sterling High School.
Today (Friday), Peetz will take on the Prairie Mustangs, who defeated the Fleming Wildcats on Tuesday to advance to the semi-final round of the tournament.
The game between the Bulldogs and the Mustangs will begin at 9am at Sterling High School. The winner of the game advances to the championship game, which will be played at 1pm the same day.
The Bulldogs enter the tournament as favorites with an undefeated record in league play. The Mustangs come into the game the winners of five straight. However, in the team's previous meeting at Prarie earlier in the season, the Bulldogs were able to pull out the win on the strength of a five-run fifth inning.
The Bulldogs have a habit of manufacturing big innings with each victory this season having at least one inning with three runs or more by combining patience at the plate with timely run-scoring hits.
Offensively, senior Logan Sircy leads the team with a .526 batting average while juniors Zach Holt and Blake Roelle lead the team with 14 RBI's each.
On the mound, look for coach Fehringer to start either Blake Roelle or Logan Sircy against the Mustangs, as both were very effective against the Prairie team in their earlier meeting. Both pitchers have shown they can shut down opposing offenses and have the ability to go deep in games.
If the Bulldogs are able to defeat the Mustangs in the 9am morning game, they will then play for the championship later in the afternoon versus the winner of the Otis – Caliche game that will be played at 11am.
