Coroner Confirms Deaths Murder-Suicide

Cheyenne County Attorney Paul Schaub confirmed in a press release Wednesday that Mark M. Arledge died of several gunshot wounds and Michelle L. Arledge died of a single gunshot wound.

Mark Arledge died April 16 of multiple gunshot wounds and Michelle Arledge died three days later of a single self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

On April 19, Cheyenne County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the Lodgepole Village office at 12:24 p.m. The initial contact lead authorities to 819 Bondegaard St., the residence of Mark Arledge and Michelle Lee Marlatt-Arledge. Deputies knocked at the door, announcing their presence, to hear a female voice reply "Just a minute." The report stated deputies then heard a gunshot. Deputies entered the residence to find 51-year-old Michelle Lee Marlatt-Arledge, and 52-year-old Mark Arledge. Each were in separate rooms. Both had gunshot wounds.

The May 2 press release says investigative efforts so far support that Michelle Arledge caused the death of Mark M. Arledge.

Schaub said in the May 2 press release he cannot comment on the allegation of elder abuse because it involves a criminal case investigation.
