Sidney Boys Win At Ogallala

Sidney’s Red Raider Track and Field teams traveled Wednesday to compete in the Ogallala Invitational against eight other teams from Nebraska and Colorado. The boy’s team finished second overall with 90 points and the girl’s team placed sixth earning 45 points. Individually, the boys won three events and placed in the top three in seven other events. Although the girls team did not have any individual events winners, they did place in the top three in four events.

Red Raider senior Mitch Porter led the way for the boys, winning the high jump by clearing 6’ 01”, and also winning the triple jump with a distance of 41’ 06.50”. Sidney junior Collin Brauer won the 3200 meter run with a time of 10:23.72 and placed second in the 1600 meters with a time of 4:41.28. Sophomore Ben Bashtovoi finished second in the 800 meters with a time of 2:12.25. Senior Jonathan Smith placed second in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 43.35, while junior Arik Doty placed third in the discus with a throw of 130’ 07”. The 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams both finished third in their events, while the 4x800 relay team placed second.

For the girl’s team, sophomore Angela Arnett finished second in the 3200 meters with a time of 12:57.08, while freshman Logan Holly placed third in the pole vault by clearing 9’ 06”. Senior Natalie Radcliffe finished second in the long jump with a distance of 14’ 11.50” and also finished second in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 51.37. The Red Raiders next track event is scheduled for Thursday April 5 at Mitchell.
